Is a minor legal offense holding you back?

Check out Clean Slate Utah!

There is a government program to expunge certain minor offenses and, for a limited time, this can be done at a low cost and without an attorney. Additionally, other convictions can be petitioned (402 Reduction) to have them reduced to minor convictions that may then qualify for expungement (may apply to some DUI and other convictions).

You can check whether your offense qualifies for automatic expungement and whether your records have been expunged. You may have to apply to have records expunged but with this process, you may not need a lawyer.

Check out the Salt Lake County Expungement Toolkit which provides straightforward explanations and useful resources. Act now as the process can take a bit of time and the final deadline is July 2023.

Legal Resources are listed on the Clean Slate Utah site along with step-by-step instructions, explanations and other resources. Additionally, Utah Legal Services provides free legal help in non-criminal cases to low-income Utahns.

Utah’s Clean Slate Law may be helpful to noncitizens but additional steps may be required for full benefit. See immigration implications of this law.
