Shelley Blundell joined the Bountiful Community Food Pantry Board in2024 after volunteering at the pantry for more than 10 years.
Blundell graduated from the University of Utah in Journalism and Mass Communication and also has earned her paraeducator’s license. She was the first Women’s Sports Information Director at the U of U and more recently a special education assistant before retiring. Blundell’s passion, however, has been as a volunteer. She served the Girl Scouts of the United States as a Troop Leader, Day Camp Director, Service Unit Director and Council Trainer for more than 20 years. She is active in the leadership of the Bountiful Community Church and an original member of the Interfaith Committee, “Many Faiths, One Heart” which brings together congregations from BCC, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Saint Olaf Catholic Church, and the L.D.S. Central Stake, which join for a service project each spring. She is also a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) which supports scholarships for women.
Blundell’s joy comes from spending time with her close-knit family which includes her husband, two children, their spouses, and four grandchildren. She is an avid birder, and is found frequently, binoculars in hand, at the Farmington Bay Bird Refuge and area marshes. She participates in the yearly Great Salt Lake Bird Festival and has traveled to ten bird festivals from Alaska to Florida with her son.
Blundell’s motivation for volunteering is her deep sense of gratitude and the desire to make the world a better place.
